The American Civil War is over!! A good study of American quilt history must include a study of the Amish population in America and their beautiful quilts. We will study the history of Amish Quilting in America. And then - in Philadelphia - in the year 1876, America celebrated her 100th birthday. From this celebration, the American quilter learned to make the "crazy- patch" quilt. Marti has an original quilt from the crazy-patch Era to share with you!! (See pictures below) We will go over the next 10 blocks in our "Harriet's Journey sampler - ROW F (pictured here). They are adorable!!

The best quilt for the NEW beginning quilter or anyone who loves classic patchwork. Eleanor Burns has finally made her classic book into a pattern!! You may choose from several sizes for your quilt - Baby through King. Since it is cold here in Maryland at this time of year, how about choosing FLANNEL for your quilt? The trip quilt looks like you sew square to square! But - guess what? You NEVER do! Make this class Amish pattern by sewing strip to strip!!! Learn rotary-cutting, accurate 1/4" seam allowance, and proper pressing. In Lesson #4 we will machine-quilt with a walking foot on your machine if your size is lap or less. We have 1 opening left in the morning class!!
